How to Make Cheap Facial Masks at Home
It is amazing how many different creams and facial masks we see on store shelves. Advertisements make us believe that each of them is the best and that if we don’t start using their particular mask or cream, our face will soon be covered in deep wrinkles or terrible blemishes. We, frugal people, are not that easy to trick. You really don’t need to spend too much money on cosmetics. Learn how to make facial masks at home. It is easy, cost-effective and you will be amazed with the results.
One of the easiest masks which I use a lot, is a yogurt mask. It will work for all skin types.
All you need is:
1 tablespoon of whole plain yogurt. It needs to be room temperature.
1 tablespoon of honey
Combine yogurt and honey, apply to face. Leave for 10 minutes, and then wash with steaming washcloth. If your skin is oily, add a couple of drops of lemon juice. If your skin is dry, you can use 2 spoons of honey instead of just one.
A great mask for oily skin is a so-called Soothing Banana mask.
You need:
1 ripe banana
1 tablespoon of honey
A few drops of lemon juice
Mix honey, banana and lemon juice. Apply to face for 10 minutes. Rinse with a washcloth. Doesn’t your skin feel great?
If you want to heal blemishes, a raw egg yolk mask will do wonders for your skin. All you need to do is to apply the raw yolk to your face for about 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm or cool water.
The winner for me has always been the Cucumber and Yogurt mask. It refreshes and moisturizes your skin and it smells great (at least I think so).
Puree a sliced cucumber, mix with plain yogurt and apply to face for 20 to 30 minutes. Many people like to cover their eyes with cool cucumber slices. After you are done, wipe the mask off of your face using a damp washcloth. Oh, and don’t forget to remove the cucumber slices.
Of course, there are a gazillion of homemade masks out there. These are just my favorite.
